WINDERMERE, Fla. – Highlighted by senior Sebastian Cappelen’s ninth consecutive top 20 finish, the No. 20 University of Arkansas men’s golf team closed out its fall season with a 11th place finish at the competitive Isleworth Collegiate Invitational on Tuesday.

One of eight ranked teams in the field of 15, the Razorbacks improved by 12 shots from Monday’s second round to the final 18 holes with a team score of 295 on a day in which less than half the field broke 300. Arkansas’ three days at the event resulted in a score of 875 (+26) on the par 72, 7387-yard layout at Isleworth Golf and Country Club.

Cappelen was the team-low man in two of three rounds, finishing in a tie for 13th place. In the process of shooting his three-round 68(-4)-75-73/216 (E), Cappelen recorded his 350th career birdie and upped his career total counting score to 111 out of 120 rounds played. He opened the tournament with a bogey-free four-under 68 and proceeded to play the opening 28 holes without a making a bogey. Cappelen’s top 20 is the 31st of his career.

Just like Arkansas did last week at the Crooked Stick Intercollegiate, No. 1 Alabama took home both the team title and individual medalist honors. The Crimson Tide (836) finished 26-under par, good for a 12-stroke gap from second place and host UCF (850). Alabama’s Trey Mullinax was the individual winner with an 11-under 205.

For the third time this fall, sophomore Taylor Moore joined Cappelen as the team’s top two finishers. After an up-and-down start to his round, Moore played his final 14 holes one-under par to shoot his second even-par 72 of the tournament. Moore’s three-day 224 tied him for 43rd place overall.

Junior Thomas Sorensen turned in his lowest round of the week in the final round with a 74, while redshirt sophomore Kolton Crawford finished with a 76 for the final counting score. Both Sorensen (75-78-74) and Crawford (72-79-76) tied for 55th place. Sophomore Nicolas Echavarria was Arkansas’ low-man in Monday’s second round, but finished with a 79 to place 61st (75-75-79).

The Razorbacks concluded a successful fall campaign with a team title at the Crooked Stick Intercollegiate, two top 5s and four top 10s out of five events.  Arkansas will return to the links for the start of its championship season on Feb. 15, when it opens play at the Gator Invitational.
