FAYETTEVILLE - Arkansas guard Alvin Bailey has been named SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week, it was announced Monday.
Bailey has started every game of his UA career, a streak that reached 15 in the Razorbacks' 52-3 win over New Mexico last Saturday in Little Rock. The sophomore from Broken Arrow, Okla., helped pave the way as Arkansas rolled up 632 yards of total offense, the sixth-highest single-game total in school history and most since 1989. The offense also accumulated 34 first downs, which is tied for the second-highest single-game total in school history.
Quarterbacks Tyler Wilson and Brandon Mitchell combined to complete 26-of-39 passes for 373 yards and two touchdowns for the 21st 300-yard passing game by the Razorbacks in head coach Bobby Petrino's 41 games. Arkansas added 259 yards and four touchdowns on the ground for the 11th straight game with more than 100 yards rushing.
This is the first SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week honor for Bailey and the second for Arkansas in the last four weekly awards given out by the conference office.
Bailey and the rest of the Razorbacks continue their season by hosting Troy on Saturday. Kickoff from Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium is set for 6:30 p.m. in a game that will be aired on CSS.
