FAYETTEVILLE-  The University of Arkansas football team reported for the beginning of 2012 fall practices on Wednesday. The team, led by John L. Smith, sat down to dinner in the Miller Room of the Broyles Center, with members of the Razorback squad fielding questions from the media.

Senior captain and defensive tackle, Alfred Davis, expressed his excitement for the upcoming season.

"I am excited," Davis said. "We have been running all summer long and lifting weights. I am just ready to put the helmets on and strap it up."

Freshman linebacker Otha Peters, a native of Covington, La., conveyed his enthusiasm about beginning practice on Thursday.

"I am really excited to put on my pads for the first time with my new teammates," Peters said. "Just to see how it is and what college football is really like."

All Razorback football practices held outside from August 2-18 will be open to the public. Practices will be closed after August 18. The team is scheduled to practice on the UA intramural fields from Aug. 2-16.

Arkansas opens the 2012 football season inside Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium against Jacksonville State on Sept. 1 at 6 p.m. The game will be shown on pay-per-view with details to be announced.
