FAYETTEVILLE- The No. 10 University of Arkansas football team had their first team scrimmage of fall camp on Tuesday evening at the UA intramural fields.
Defensive coordinator and secondary coach Paul Haynes met with the media after practice and said he was pleased with the newcomers stepping up on defense.
“You get the young guys in to get the experience,” Coach Haynes said. “The good thing is that every rep that they take they are going to get better. That is how we look at it. We are going to keep knocking them in there; we are going to keep grinding it out. They are talented kids and they are smart kids. They want to be great. Anytime you have that, you have a chance.”
Coach Haynes also touched on facing the Arkansas offense.
“We are going against that offense every day,” Coach Haynes said. “We can only get better. That is the best quarterback in the country. That is the best receiver in the country and the best tight end in the country. Going against those guys daily, our guys are going to get better, I keep telling them that.”
The Razorbacks continue practice Wednesday at 6 p.m. at the intramural fields. All practices held outside through Aug. 18 will be open to the public, but practices moved inside Walker Pavilion will be closed due to space limitations. The team is scheduled to practice at the intramural fields through Aug. 16.
