FAYETTEVILLE - The University of Arkansas football team (3-4, 0-3 SEC) fell to No. 14 South Carolina (5-1, 3-1 SEC) 52-7 on Homecoming inside Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium on Saturday.

Arkansas got off to a fast start, taking the game's opening drive 64 yards in seven plays and scoring on a 6-yard touchdown run by Alex Collins to take the early 7-0 lead.

It would go down as the only score on the day for the Razorbacks, however, as the Gamecocks responded with 52 unanswered points.

UA totaled 218 yards rushing on the day, as Jonathan Williams added 61 yards on six carries and Keon Hatcher finished the game with 69 yards on just two carries, including one run for 50 yards.

Defensively, Eric Bennett, Jarrett Lake and Braylon Mitchell each tied for the team lead with nine tackles on the day. Darius Philon finished with a career-high 3.0 tackles for loss and also added in 1.0 quarterback sack.

Chris Smith was named the 2013 Crip Hall Award winner, finishing the game with seven tackles, including four solo stops. The Crip Hall Award is given annually to the Arkansas senior with the most outstanding performance in the Homecoming game.

Sam Irwin-Hill punted the ball four times for the Razorbacks, netting 214 yards. The junior from Brisbane, Australia, recorded a 79-yard punt in the second quarter, which tied for the seventh longest punt in school history and the longest in the SEC this season.

Zach Hocker also moved into a tie for 8th on the SEC’s career PATs made list, converting his one opportunity of the game to record the 161st PAT of his career.

Arkansas travels to Tuscaloosa, Ala., next Saturday for its second SEC road contest of the season against Alabama. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. and the game will be nationally televised on either ESPN or ESPN2.
