2012-13 Preview: Long and athletic, can play any of the guard positions ... shot better than 50 percent from the floor in Italy with 12 assists ... according to Coach Anderson “very versatile, a big guard that can play many different positions. The key for him is to get stronger and be more assertive. He can really have an impact on this team defensively as well as offensively.” 2011-12 (Freshman): Probably the most versatile player on the roster, handling the ball and playing small forward … averaged 6.6 points and 3.3 rebounds … sank 21 of his final 22 free throws on the year … scored in double figures nine times … scored a career high 15 points on 5-of-8 shooting and three three-point baskets against Grambling State … tallied 10 points in Arkansas’ upset of No. 25 Vanderbilt which included going 8-of-8 from the charity stripe … against South Carolina he scored two points but grabbed seven rebounds, dished four assists and made a steal … played sparingly at Auburn, but hit all four of his free throws in the closing minutes to win the game … led Arkansas in scoring once and rebounding three times. In High School: Named Most Outstanding Player for East team in Arkansas High School Coaches Association All-Star game … all-state first-team four times … two-time most valuable player … four-time district all-tournament team … averaged 25 points per game or more in three of four seasons of high school including a 30-point average as a sophomore … averaged more than 10 rebounds per game in three of four seasons … as a senior he averaged 15 points, 12 rebounds, eight assists and five steals as a point guard … career highs of 51 points, 20 rebounds, 15 assists and 10 steals … won the AAU National Championship with his Arkansas Wings team in 2011 … rated the No. 36 player in the nation by ESPN, No. 32 by Rivals and No. 35 by Scout.com … signed with the Razorbacks after also considering Baylor, Connecticut, Mississippi and Oklahoma State. Personal: Son of Jerome Madden and Gloria Brown … relative of former Razorback Marcus Monk who played both football and basketball … his sister Jordan is a junior on the Baylor basketball team … born May 23, 1992 … he is enrolled in the Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences. |
