The University of Arkansas basketball team looks to pick up its first win away from Bud Walton Arena on Saturday when it takes on Alabama A&M at Verizon Arena in North Little Rock, Ark., beginning at 7 p.m.

Tickets for the event are still on sale and may be purchased through Ticketmaster or at the Verizon Arena Box Office.

The Razorbacks (6-4) are coming off a hard fought win against a scrappy Robert Morris team, 79-74, at Bud Walton Arena on Thursday.  Four Razorbacks scored in double figures in the game led by sophomore BJ Young’s 23 points while junior Marshawn Powell nearly posted his second double-double of the year when he went for 12 points and nine rebounds.  The Razorbacks were able to withstand a good shooting night by the Colonials from three by dominating the paint (44-18) and winning the rebounding battle (41-33).

Powell’s 12 points in the game crept him ever closer to his 1,000th career point and the fourth-year player is now just 19 away from becoming the 35th member of the exclusive club.  Powell has not only scored during his time with the Razorbacks, but is one of just nine players in school history to have more than 975 points, 400 rebounds and 70 blocked shots.

Alabama A&M (3-6) just picked up a very good win against Missouri State on Tuesday night and has spent the past several days waiting to face the Razorbacks.  The Bulldogs are led by Demarquelle Tabb who is averaging a double-double with 11.9 points and 10.2 rebounds per game.  He is joined by Brandon Ellis (10.7) and Jeremy Crutcher (10.4) in double figures for a team that averages 60.1 points per game as a team.

Arkansas has been very good in the Little Rock/North Little Rock area over the years with a record of 81-25 (.764), but losses in each of the last three seasons has left the Razorbacks with a bad taste.  The Razorbacks’ last victory in the area came on Jan. 3, 2009 against North Texas.

The Razorback game against Alabama A&M will be broadcast on the radio across the Razorback Sports Network from IMG College with Chuck Barrett and Rick Schaeffer giving the call.  The game will also be carried live on the Razorback Sports Network with Scott Inman and former Razorback Blake Eddins on air.
