FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Freshman BJ Young of the University of Arkansas men’s basketball team was named to the Associated Press’ Honorable Mention All-SEC team it was announced on Monday.

Young, who had previously been named to the All-SEC second-team and All-Freshman Team by the league’s coaches, garners his third award of the post season with the AP announcement.  He is the third Razorback in as many years to be named to the AP’s Honorable mention squad and the 20th Arkansas player to earn a spot on an AP team since Arkansas joined the Southeastern Conference.

Young completed his first year in Fayetteville with a scoring average of 15.3 points per game, a total that ranks third among freshman in Arkansas school history.  He ranked sixth in the SEC in scoring and led all freshmen in the category while hitting 50.4 percent of his shots which ranks fourth in the SEC.  He is the leading scorer in the nation who has not started at least half of his team’s games and ranks 72nd in the country in shooting percentage and 178th in scoring.
