Columbia, S.C.- The Arkansas Razorback softball team fell short in the second matchup with South Carolina falling 7-2, giving it an overall record of 17-5 and 1-3 in the SEC.

The Razorbacks opened the game loading the bases in the top of the first, but were unable to capitalize on the opportunity.

The Gamecocks came into the first inning ready to hit; scoring three runs off of four hits.

Arkansas once again loaded the bases in the top of the third, but could not bring a run home. South Carolina struck again scoring one run in the second and one in the third, giving them the 5-0 lead.

Two more runs were brought in in the bottom of the fifth giving South Carolina the 7-0 lead.

The Razorbacks got one the board with a bomb from freshman, Devon Wallace, when she cleared the right field wall with ease. That gives her five homeruns on the season.

Sophomore, Amanda Geile also grabbed her fifth homerun of the season in the top of the seventh when she hit a line drive over the center field wall eventually hitting the scoreboard.

The two homeruns were not enough to give the Razorbacks fuel to take the lead and ended up falling 7-2.

"I was really disappointed with how many runners we left on base," said Head Coach Mike Larabee. "We did not take advantage with some timely hitting when we needed to."

Arkansas will wrap up the series with South Carolina Sunday at 12 p.m. at Beckman field. Live stats and a live blog will be available on ArkansasRazorbacks.com
