GAINESVILLE, Fla. – University of Arkansas sophomore Emily Tubert shot even par leading the Razorback women’s golf team to 10th place after second round action at the Gator SunTrust Invitational in Gainesville, Fla., Saturday.

Tubert, a Burbank, Calif., native carded a 70 pairing with her first round 72 for 142 and a tie for fifth overall.  Her scorecard was nearly unblemished with bogies on seven and 15 and birdies on the 12th and 16th holes.

“Our top three were pretty solid again today,” Arkansas head coach Shauna Estes-Taylor said.   “For Emily to shoot par out here on this golf course is a really good number.”

Tubert’s score paced Arkansas to a 299 and 10th place with a two-round 596 (297-299).

Sophomore Emma Lavy added a 75 as did junior Victoria Vela in the second round.  Freshman Hally Leadbetter finished with a 79 and sophomore Emily Podzielinski shot 83 on Saturday.

Lavy’s 75 put her in the clubhouse with 149 (74-75) and tied for 31st overall.  Leadbetter is in the clubhouse with a 152 (73-79) and tied for 44th overall.  Vela is tied for 50th with 153 (78-75) and Podzielinksi is tied for 85th with 161 (78-83).

“Emma and Victoria really hung in there as well today,” Estes-Taylor said.  “They finished strong coming down the stretch.”

Second-ranked Alabama and No. 23 Florida lead the field with 17-over 577s.  The host Gators’ second round 283 was the lowest score of the day.

Tenth-ranked Georgia is third with 582 followed by No. 34 Florida State with 583, No. 49 South Florida with 588, No. 40 Kentucky with 590, No. 4 Auburn with 593, and No. 11 Duke and No. 14 Baylor tied for 595.

Arkansas 596 rounds out the top 10 scores.

“We are looking to build on what we have learned in the first two days,” Estes-Taylor said.  “I really believe we are right on the edge of doing something really good and all firing on the same day.  This group is ready to go out and finish strong.”
