FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - The University of Arkansas softball team's doubleheader with Murray State was cancelled due to heavy amounts of rain in the Fayetteville area Thursday afternoon.

The two teams were able to get in only 2.5 innings before the rain struck, forcing the umpires to pull the two teams off the fields. The game was not officially called until an hour and half later at 3:30 p.m.

Two and a half innings were played before the tarp was pulled as Murray State struck first in the top of the first bringing in one run off of a single and an error by the Razorbacks.

Freshman Devon Wallace recorded the first hit on the day when she collected a double to the right outfield wall. The Razorbacks were not able to bring her home in that inning which gave the Racers a 1-0 lead at the end of the first. It would be the only run scored in the game.

The Razorbacks take the field tomorrow at 7 p.m. against Florida in the first of the three-game series for the weekend.

Friday's game will also be Arkansas's pink game, promoting breast cancer awareness. All fans who wear their "Red + White = Pink" t-shirt will gain free admission to the game. T-shirts can be purchased at Hog Heaven or Academy Sports +Outdoors.
