FAYETTEVILLE - The No. 6 University of Arkansas women's track and field team opened competition at the Mt. SAC Relays Thursday with a trio of personal-best performances at 1,500 meters. With their efforts, Grace Heymsfield, Keri Wood and Samantha Learch all finished in the top 20 of the event. The Razorbacks also saw action in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.

Heymsfield was Arkansas' top performer at 1,500 meters Thursday with her time of 4:21.62 and 13th-place overall finish. She knocked more than three second off her previous best of 4:25.47 which she ran earlier this season at the Arkansas Spring Invitational. Wood finished in 19th place with a time of 4:22.67 while Learch was 20th in 4:22.83. It was a five-second career best for Wood and the fastest 1,500 meters for Learch since the 2010 season.

In the 3,000-meter steeplechase, Cali George turned in the second-fastest time of her career. She finished in 11th place in the Olympic development section of the event with a time of 10:22.78, missing her personal best by less than one second. Shannon Klenke made her Mt. SAC debut with a time of 10:57.30 and 13th-place finish in the 'B' section of the event.

Competition at the Mt. SAC Relays is scheduled to conclude Friday with Kristen Gillespie in the 1,500 meters and Kaitlin Flattmann and Dominique Scott in the 5,000 meters for the Razorbacks. Action at the John McDonnell Invitational in Fayetteville also begins Friday with the hammer and discus competitions.
