FAYETTEVILLE – University of Arkansas head coach Lance Harter has announced the first wave of 2013 signees for the Razorbacks’ cross country and track and field teams. The initial group of future Razorbacks includes seven standout athletes, all joining the program as freshmen for the 2013-14 campaign. Harter is in his 23rd season at the helm of the Arkansas women’s program.

The list of future Razorbacks includes Taliyah Brooks (Wichita Falls, Texas/Rider HS), Shelby Chapin (Southlake, Texas/Carroll Senior HS), Gina Hauptman (Colorado Springs, Colo./Liberty HS), Sandie Raines (Kingwood, Texas/Kingwood HS), Brianna Swinton (Little Rock, Ark./Parkview HS), Regan Ward (Okmulgee, Okla./Beggs HS) and Aliayah McDonald (Harker Heights, Texas/Harker Heights HS).

“Our initial signing class will bolster our potential to continue to be a top SEC team in all three championships between the cross country, indoor and outdoor season,” head coach Lance Harter said. “Considering that we will graduate a very talented senior class, we had to find top high school talent to join a very gifted redshirt group of athletes. Thus far, as we continue to recruit for 2014, we are very pleased with such a talented and deep signing class.”

The No. 2 Razorbacks resume their 2013 season Feb. 22-24 with the SEC Indoor Championships in Fayetteville.
