FAYETTEVILLE – The No.5 Arkansas Razorback men’s cross country team picked up a pair of dual meet wins Friday. The Razorbacks recorded a perfect 15 points against Missouri for the win while they scored 18 points against Missouri Southern State.
“I was impressed with how the guys handled this week,” head coach Chris Bucknam
said. “We appreciate the Universities of Missouri and Missouri Southern to come down and give us a good race.”
Junior Stanley Kebenei
and senior Kemoy Campbell
led the way for the meet and the Razorbacks, finishing with times of 20:09 and 20:10 respectively. To round out Arkansas’ perfect 15 points against Missouri, senior David Flynn
crossed the finish line at 20:20, newcomer Gabe Gonzalez
crossed at 20:28 and sophomore Cale Wallace clocked a time of 20:29.
“We looked like we had a comfortable pace for the meet,” Bucknam said. “We are just completing our second week of training and I feel that it is good to get a little bit of the race jitters out of the way. Now we have a nice break to prepare ourselves for the Chile Pepper Festival in October.”
Additionally, senior Raymond Joseph
rounded out the lead pack of Razorbacks crossing the line at 20:31 followed by Patrick Rono
, Noah Findlay
and Aiden Swain who crossed at 21:21, 21:40 and 22:00 minutes respectively.
Missouri Southern State was able to hold the Razorbacks form a perfect score of 15 points by finishing its top runner in the third spot for the meet at 20:16. Arkansas would score 18 points against the Lions but still hold on for the second win of the meet and the young season.
