FAYETTEVILLE – The University of Arkansas men’s tennis team won four of five matches played on the final day of the Navy All-Conference Collegiate Invitational, where true freshman Johan den Toom was named flight champion.
Den Toom, who played at the No. 6 spot, went 2-0 on the weekend with wins over competitors from the Naval Academy and Princeton. Den Toom also played as part of a doubles pair with redshirt freshman Jacob Herndon
, earning a 2-1 record.
Sunday was a successful day for other Razorbacks, with four singles and one doubles win. Doubles pair senior Christian Lee
and freshman Juan Marino defeated their Indiana opponents 8-2, with Lee and Marino bringing home victories as singles as well. Herndon also picked up a singles win, tallying his second of the weekend.
Seniors Manfred Jeske
and Mike Nott
will head to Tulsa, Okla., on Oct. 3 for the ITA All-American Championships. Both student-athletes were selected as qualifying singles in the ITA preseason poll. The pair will also compete in doubles, where they were ranked preseason No. 9.
The Razorbacks will continue competition on Oct. 25 at the FGCU Invitational.
