OXFORD, Miss. – A back-and-forth match came down to the wire for Arkansas men's tennis (11-11, 1-5), with the Arkansas tennis team falling to Ole Miss 4-2 in Oxford on Friday.

For the third time in league play, Arkansas won the doubles point to enter singles play ahead 1-0. Both of the Razorbacks’ ranked doubles pairs brought home victories, with No. 78 pair of seniors Mike Nott and Manfred Jeske striking first for Arkansas with a dominating 8-3 victory. The No. 59 pair of seniors Hall Fess and Pete Thomason clichéd the doubles point for Arkansas with an 8-7 (10-5) victory on court two, marking their 15th doubles victory of the spring and moving to 4-2 in SEC play.

The Razorbacks opened singles play with a 1-0 lead over the Rebels but wouldn’t regain the lead again. After dropping two matches on courts 6 and 1, Jeske orchestrated a 6-7, 6-2, 3-0 comeback to even the score at 2-2. Freshman Johan den Toom fell on court 5 and it all came down to courts 3 and 4, where the Razorbacks were down a set but holding even in the second. A hard fought attempt fell just short for Fess at the No. 3 singles position, falling 7-5, 7-5 to give Ole Miss the clinching point and securing Arkansas’ fifth conference loss.

Arkansas will return to action Sunday, facing No. 22 Mississippi State at 1 p.m. Live stats can be found at www.ArkansasRazorbacks.com as well as by following @RazorbackMTEN on Twitter.
