2012 NCAA West Preliminary qualifier (3,000m steeplechase)

2012 || INDOOR: Flynn ran to a bronze showing at the SEC Championships, placing third at 3,000 meters with a season-best time of 8:13.85. He narrowly missed scoring at 5,000 meters with a 10th-place finish at the conference meet. At the Arkansas Last Chance meet, he established a personal-best mile time of 4:09.31. OUTDOOR: Flynn added a third-place performance in the 3,000-meter steeplechase to the team total at the SEC Championships. He closed out his season at the NCAA West Preliminary as a qualifier in the steeplechase. He ran a personal best of 8:49.20 on his way to an eighth-place finish at the Mt. SAC Relays. Following the collegiate season, Flynn won his third national title in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a victory at the Irish Championships in July.

PRIOR TO ARKANSAS: Flynn spent the first two seasons of his collegiate career at Western State in Gunnison, Colo.  At the 2010 Rocky Mountain Athletic Cross Country Championships, he finished 12th overall and earned a spot on the All-RMAC Second Team. At the 2008 World Cross Country Championships, Flynn finished 89th overall and was the third from Ireland.  He was a three-time cross country champion for Ireland and, from 2007-09, was ranked top three nationally. During the 2011 outdoor season with the Mountaineers, he established then-personal bests of 3:54.32 at 1,500 meters and 8:52.19 in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. The Dublin, Ireland, native was a three-time national champion with under-19 and under-20 titles in the 2,000- and 3,000-meter steeplechase, respectively.
