FAYETTEVILLE - The University of Arkansas men's tennis team opened the Utah Ute Challenge with three singles wins and one doubles victory on the day.
Sophomore Victor Hoang, red-shirt freshman Christian Lee and true freshman Santiago Munoz are representing the Razorbacks in Utah.
"We had a pretty good day out here at the Utah Ute Challenge collecting three singles wins," head coach Robert Cox said. "These young guys are still learning and are getting better every match."
Munoz had a very successful day defeating Weber State's Sanjay Goswamy before falling in an intense three-set match to the No. 1 seed Slim Hamza from Utah. Hamza is ranked 37 in the country.
"I am very pleased with Santiago's play today," Coach Cox said. "It is very encouraging to see that level of play coming from a freshman."
Lee won his first match of the day taking down Weber State's Anthony Trubert before falling to the No. 7 seed Francis Sargent. Sargent also ranks nationally at 48.
Hoang also won his first match defeating BYU's Nikki Rae.
In doubles play, Munoz and Hoang split the day defeating Weber State's Gamer and Trabert and then falling to the tough duo from Utah of Lane and Hamza.
