TULSA, Okla. – University of Arkansas sophomore Regina Plasencia fired a one-under 69 and is one stroke off the lead at the Dale McNamara NCAA Fall Preview in Tulsa, Okla., after second round action Tuesday.

Plasencia, like the No. 8/10 Razorbacks, was tied for 12th after first round action but moved up the leaderboard and is tied for fifth with a 139 (70-69), just one stroke back of a four-way tie for the lead.

The Razorbacks also moved up three spots into ninth place shooting a 289 for a 580.  As a team, Arkansas is just 11 strokes back of the leader and only eight back of a top five finish.

Plasencia started on the 10th hole and bogeyed the 11th moving to one over.  She settled in with six consecutive pars before a second bogey on 18 to turn two over. The slow start didn’t seem to hamper Plasencia’s spirits, however, as she turned and birdied three in a row on the second, third and fourth holes moving to one-under on the day.  She finished birdie, par, bogey playing the front nine three-under to shoot 69 for the round.

“It was another awesome performance by Regina today,” Arkansas head coach Shauna Estes-Taylor said.  “She is just really into our focus and our goal of hitting one shot at a time and committing to it.  It’s really fun to watch out there and watch her execute her game plan.”

Freshman Summar Roachell also posted a good number for Arkansas with a two-over 72 for a 148.  The Conway, Ark., native is tied for 45th overall with rounds of 76-72.

Sophomore Gabriela Lopez moved into a tie for 27th place with a three-over 73 for a 145 as Arkansas’ youth carried the team Tuesday.

“I can’t say enough about Summar and Gabriela as well,” Estes-Taylor said.  “Summar came out there and has just been solid and is just so excited to put on a Razorback uniform and go out there and compete for the team that she loves so much.  Gaby really grinded out there and hung in there today.  I’m really proud of that corps group.”

Senior Emily Tubert is tied for 45th overall with rounds of 73-75 for 148 and senior Emma Lavy is tied for 66th with rounds of 76-77 for 155.

“Emily and Emma are our veterans and I really believe they will come out there firing in the final round,” Estes-Taylor said.  “I saw a lot of great stuff out of them today and it is about learning as you compete and they did a great job of getting better today.”

Second-ranked Duke moved into the lead leaping over No. 4 Oklahoma and first round leader No. 15 Oklahoma State.  The Blue Devils are in the clubhouse with a 569, followed by the Sooners at 570 and OSU with 571.  There is a two-way tie for fourth with No. 1 Southern California and No. 3 Alabama with 572.  Both teams make big jumps on the leaderboard in the second round.

The rest of the field includes No. 7 Arizona in sixth with 575 followed by No. 10 Arizona State with 577, No. 14 Stanford with 578, No. 8 Arkansas with 580, No. 16 North Carolina and No. 9 Vanderbilt tied for 10th with 582, No. 19 Georgia and No. 13 Tulane tied for 12 with 583, No. 21 Texas in 14th with 596 and host No. 62 Tulsa in 15th with 624.

“I’m excited to go out tomorrow and lead this group around the course and move up that leaderboard,” Estes-Taylor said.

Final round start times begin at 8 a.m.  For more information on Arkansas women’s golf, follow @RazorbackWGolf on Twitter.
