COLLEGE STATION, Texas –Despite matching a season high three goals, the Arkansas soccer team (9-5, 2-4) fell to Texas A&M (10-3-1, 5-1), 4-3 in the team’s fifth overtime match of the year.

Texas A&M scored the golden goal in the 96th minute of play as freshman Liz Keester scored the first and final goal of the match. The Razorbacks are now 3-2 on the year when extra time is needed.

The scoring started early in the match. Texas A&M struck first in the third minute when Keester put the Aggies on the board. Arkansas followed with three unanswered goals from Margaret Power in the seventh minute, sophomore Ashleigh Ellenwood in the 19th minute and senior Yvonne DesJarlais in the 25th minute of the first half. The three goals scored in the half matched a season high. The goal for Power was her second, Ellenwood’s seventh and DesJarlais’ third of the year.

Junior Tyler Allen was credited with an assist on the team’s first two goals of the match, while Ellenwood received her fourth assist of the year on the team’s third goal of the match. Texas A&M scored one more time in the 28th minute to make the score 3-2 in favor of the Razorbacks going into halftime.

In the second half, Texas A&M netted the equalizer in the 62nd minute which eventually sent the match into overtime.

The Razorbacks return to the pitch next weekend with the matches at Vanderbilt on Oct. 18 and a home match on Sunday, Oct. 20 against Tennessee.
