CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – University of Arkansas sophomore Gabriela Lopez posted a one-under 215 leading the third-ranked Razorback women’s golf team to a fourth-place finish at the Ruth’s Chris Tar Heel Invitational in Chapel Hill, N.C., Sunday.

Lopez, a Mexico City, Mexico, native, finished with a final round 69 shooting 70-76-69=215 for the tournament. Lopez opened her day with a double but promptly rallied with a birdie for the next hole.  She birdied the fourth, ninth, 12th, 17th and 18th holes en route to her team-leading finish.

“It was a great team performance today,” Arkansas head coach Shauna Estes-Taylor.  “Today was a group effort, this week was really a group effort.  I told the players that great performances revolve around a great mindset and they did a great job of having a championship mindset and executing in that way under some tough conditions and against another top notch field.

“This group is learning so much every week and competing against the best teams week in and week out.  They really are creating a mindset that matches our preparation.  We will come home and prepare for our final event of the fall and finish strong.”

Sophomore Regina Plasencia tied for 14th overall shooting a 217 with rounds of 73-73-71.  Plasencia also opened with a bogey on the first hole but fired off three birdies in a row as she settled in finishing one-under for the round.

Senior Emma Lavy finished strong tying for 24th overall shooting 219 with rounds of 76-68-75.  Senior Emily Tubert finished for 48th with a 225 (78-75-72) saving her best round for last.  Freshman Summar Roachell tied for 80th overall with a 232 (77-75-80).

The Razorbacks return to the golf course Oct. 27-29, at the Alamo Invitational for the final event of the fall schedule.

Seventh-ranked Duke came from behind to win the event with an 857.  SEC member No. 18 Vanderbilt was second with 868 followed by No. 9 Oklahoma with an 871.  The third-ranked Razorbacks were fourth overall with an 874 and the rest of the top 10 included No.1 4 Alabama, No. 15 South Carolina and No. 17 Clemson in a tie for fifth with 878, No. 21 Florida in eighth with 881, No. 39 Wake Forest ninth with 883 and No.24 Auburn in 10th with 886.  The final eight teams were No. 30 LSU with 887, No.12 North Carolina State with 889, No. 72 Ole Miss and No. 26 Michigan State with 890, No. 28 Virginia with 895, No. 13 North Carolina with 898, No. 44 Notre Dame with 902 and No. 49 Baylor with a 908.
