ORANGE BEACH, Ala. – Appearing in its first Southeastern Conference (SEC) Quarterfinal game since 1996, the @RazorbackSoccer team fell to the top-seeded Florida Gators, 1-0, at the Orange Beach Sports Complex Wednesday night.

It was a hard-fought battle as the Razorback (13-8, 5-6 SEC) defense was relentless against a physical Florida (16-3-1, 9-2 SEC) offense, holding the Gators to just one goal for just the third time this season.

"Florida is very good, but I thought we were deserving of a result,” said Head Coach Colby Hale. “This team can play with anyone in the country and we are deserving of an opportunity for more games.”

The Gators were the first score, as Savannah Jordan chipped the ball over Cameron Carter to take a 1-0 lead eighth minute.

Ashleigh Ellenwood came back with a shot that was bobbled by Taylor Burke for the save, just missing an answered goal. Another shot off the post would build momentum for the Razorbacks in the final ten minutes of the first half, but a few missed chances would end the score a 1-0 in favor of the Gators at the half.

The second half was much of the same story as the Razorbacks fought for the equalizer, but were unable to find the back of the net, falling to the No. 1 Gators by a score of 1-0. Carter recorded four saves on the night, totaling 16 for the freshman at her first SEC Tournament.

Wednesday’s loss was just the third shutout suffered by the Razorbacks this season. It was a record-setting season for the Razorbacks, entering the top-25 first time this season, along with reaching the SEC quarterfinals for the first time in 17 years.

“They just want to win,” said Hale. “They’ve worked so hard and they have a ton of confidence. They believe they can play with anybody and they bring it every game.”
