FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Day two of the Razorback Invitational was a record-setting day at Randal Tyson Track Center, as the No. 1 ranked Razorbacks picked up their third win of the season with 153.5 points, defeating six other top-25 ranked teams.

On his way to a collegiate-leading score in the heptathlon NCAA defending champion Kevin Lazas began the day with a 60-meter hurdle victory with a time of 8.43, followed by a 16-10.75 clearance in the pole vault gave the senior a comfortable lead. In the final section of the heptathlon, Lazas secured his event title in the 1,000-meter run with a time of 2:45.58. With 5,923 points, Lazas is currently leading the NCAA.

The Razorbacks created an exciting finish to final event of the 2014 Razorback Invitational as the 4x400 relay team comprised of Jarrion Lawson, Eric Janise, Travis Southard and Neil Braddy finished a close second while posting the second-best time in the world this year. The Razorbacks recorded a time of 3:05.02, which also ranks fourth best all-time at Arkansas.

“It’s a big meet, and it’s fun,” said Head Coach Chris Bucknam. “We showed our range on the track, scoring in several events to defeat some of the top-ranked teams in the country.”

Earlier in the night, Braddy led Arkansas in the 400-meter dash with a fifth place finish in 46.46. Eric Janise recorded a personal best time of 46.62 for an eighth-place finish.

Following the heptathlon, the Razorback’s second event title of the day went Anthony May with a personal-best triple jump mark of 52-8.75, currently ranking fifth in the nation this season. The Razorbacks earned a 1-2-3 finish in the event, with Clive Pullen's second-place mark of 52-.75 ranking in the nation's top-10 this season. Raymond Higgs set a personal best with a third-place finish at 50-6.75 that ranks sixth in the SEC.

The men picked up 10 points in the 800-meter from the efforts of Thomas Squella (1:48.85), Patrick Rono (1:49.98) and Andrew Pisechko (1:51.38). Solomon Haile finished fourth in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 3:01.65, just shy of his personal record set last season.
