FAYETTEVILLE – The University of Arkansas Razorback Athletic Department announced the addition of Roy Jacobson
to the event management staff today.
Jacobson has spent his entire career working in facilities and event management and brings a wealth of championship event experience to Arkansas.
Jacobson will oversee event management and operational activities for several sports with the Razorbacks. His duties will include coordination with sports medicine, marketing, media relations, facilities, concessions, parking, security and other outside agencies as they interact with the events.
Jacobson’s professional career has made stops at the University of Kansas, North Texas and Wichita State where he has worked with several sports including track and field, men’s golf, basketball, tennis and volleyball.
In his most recent position, Jacobson coordinated all logistical game management operations, including organizing/overseeing the scheduling, assignments and supervision of event staff and coordinating facility preparation with Facilities staff. He was the lead event manager for all intercollegiate sports including men’s basketball, baseball, track and field, and volleyball. He also led all event management responsibilities for conference championships and maintained and updated the facilities and events master calendar for all practices and events while handling all contract negotiations and settlements for outside events. Some of the outside events included the USA Junior Nationals Track Meet, Kansas High School State Track Meet, and USA World League Volleyball.
While at North Texas, Jacobson played an integral part in the planning and execution of event management policies as the primary event manager for several sports, including women’s basketball and softball. Some of his other duties included hiring, training, scheduling, and supervising event staff for athletic events and outside events. Jacobson helped with the numerous athletic facilities, including the day-to-day maintenance, scheduling, and general upkeep.
While at Kansas, Jacobson was the head game manager for women’s soccer, indoor track and field, the Kansas Relays and rowing. In addition, he assisted in the event planning for revenue sports such as football and men’s and women’s basketball.
