Naylor and Bugslag top 10 on platform

In a competition where only the top 12 earned a trip to the finals, Naylor submitted a stellar preliminary round of dives to place fifth and advance to the finals with a score of 255.35. The sophomore followed with a 227.85 in the final round, and finished 9th overall with a score of 483.20. Her performance fell just short of earning qualification for the NCAA Championships in Auburn, Ala., March 15-17.
"Kesha missed one dive in the prelims and was still near the top in scoring," said Arkansas diving coach Dale Schultz. "In the finals, she missed a reverse two and a half, and it took her out of it. Competition is so strong here that if you miss one dive, you can't miss another."
The senior Bugslag was just behind Naylor in the preliminary round, scoring 234.80 to place 10th and move on to the finals. She improved her score in the finals, earning a 248.30 to place 10th overall, just behind Naylor, with a total score of 483.20.
"It was a solid finish for Liana," Schultz said. "She hit the tower once on an inward, but came back and was still right in the hunt. She didn't make the finals at zones last year, so I was happy with her performance today."
Senior Alex House scored a 208.00 in the preliminary round for 21st place, missing a shot at the final round.
Arkansas, which will have two swimmers competing at the NCAA Championships, will not send any divers. The seniors Bugslag and House likely competed for the Razorbacks for the final time on Saturday. For more information about Razorback swimming and diving, please log on to ArkansasRazorbacks.com.
