FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Former Arkansas men’s golf standout Austin Cook will make his PGA Tour debut this week at the FedEx St. Jude Classic in Memphis, Tenn. after earning one of the four qualifying spots this past weekend.

A 2013 graduate and two-time SEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year, Cook qualified at Windyke Country Club in Memphis with a pair of 65s. On Friday, Cook fired his first 65 to sit atop the 153-play field which advanced 43 players to Sunday’s final four-spot qualifier. Cook returned on Sunday with his second 65, this time in bogey-free fashion to tie for the top spot and earn on the four qualifying spots.

Cook’s addition to the St. Jude Classic field, which will be played at TPC Southwind, in Memphis, gives Arkansas four former players in the field. Also beginning play on Thursday will be John Daly, David Lingmerth and Tag Ridings. Tee times and pairings will be released on Wednesday.

Cook earned All-America honors as a sophomore when he finished 10th individually at the NCAA Championships.  He was named to the SEC All-Freshman team in 2010 and was a mainstay in the Razorback lineup throughout his four-year career with 48 tournaments played, a 73.37 career stroke average and nine top 10 finishes.  Over his final three years, Cook’s score counted toward Arkansas’ team score 89 times in 105 rounds.

In 2013 he was the runner-up at the NCAA Fayetteville Regional, a placing that earned him PING All-Central Region accolades, and posted Arkansas’ second best stroke average at 73.0.  Cook posted two sub-par tournament scores with three top 10s and seven top 20 finishes as a senior in 2012-13, while also tying for eighth at the invitation-only Patriot All-America during Arkansas’ winter break.
