No. 15 @RazorbackMGolf Moves Up One Spot At Cabo Collegiate

LOS CABOS, Mexico – The No. 15 Arkansas men’s golf team improved by three strokes on the second day of the Querencia Cabo Collegiate, moving up one spot on the leaderboard into eighth place in the field of 14 teams.

The Razorbacks carded a team score of 296 to jump from ninth to eighth place heading into Tuesday’s final round. Arkansas will play the final round with No. 18 Vanderbilt, SMU and LSU, starting on holes 6-9. A shotgun start is set for 8:30 a.m.

For the fourth time in the last six rounds, sophomore Taylor Moore was the team’s low-man with a 73. Moore’s 73 came on the heels of a 75 in the first round as he sits in a tie for 23rd place, just three strokes out of his third straight 10th place finish. The Edmond, Okla. product has 29 pars over the first two rounds.

Arkansas biggest improvement came from sophomore Nicolas Echavarria who equaled Moore’s round of 73 after an opening round 80 on Sunday. Echavarria moved up 13 spots on the individual leaderboard, carding three birdies on the day. Redshirt sophomore Kolton Crawford was one of just eight players in the field to shoot even-par or lower on Sunday with a 71 and followed with a 75 to sit in a tie for 14th place. In position for his first top 20 finish of the year, Crawford has a team-high seven birdies through two rounds.

Senior Sebastian Cappelen will enter Tuesday’s final round in a tie for 23rd with Moore, eyeing his seventh top 20 finish or better out of eight events. The Ben Hogan Award Watch List member has turned in a counting score in all 23 round this season, contributing rounds of 73 and 75.
