FAYETTEVILLE – University of Arkansas volleyball head coach
Robert Pulliza has announced the addition of Ethan Pheister to his staff as a volunteer assistant. Pheister joins the Razorbacks after spending one season at the University of Cincinnati.
During his time with the Bearcats, Pheister served as an assistant coach for a Cincinnati team that finished the 2011 season with a 27-10 overall record, advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament and won the Big East conference title. He was responsible for training and developing the team’s setters, including All-Big East performer Caylin Mahoney.
Pheister is a graduate of Ball State University where he was a four-year letterwinner as the team’s setter. He was a three-time All-MIVA conference selection and was a two-time team captain for the Cardinals. Pheister left Ball State with 4,103 career assists, the fourth-highest total in program history.
The Shorewood, Wis., native began his coaching career at Muncie Central High School in Muncie, Ind., where he was an assistant coach for the varsity team and head coach of the freshman squad. Pheister helped Muncie to the 2009 state title. He also has club coaching experience that includes a third-place finish at the AAU national tournament by Junior Olympic team Munciana 14-1.
