FAYETTEVILLE - The University of Arkansas volleyball team opens its 2012 spring exhibition season this weekend with a training session and match against Kansas in Lawrence. Prior to playing one another, the teams will go through a two-hour practice beginning at 9:30 a.m. (CT). The exhibition match between the Razorbacks and Jayhawks is scheduled for a 1:30 p.m. start.
Arkansas' match at Kansas is the first of four competition dates for the team during its month-long spring schedule. The Razorbacks will play on their home floor at Barnhill Arena two times during that time. Arkansas' home slate includes a midweek match against Tulsa (April 11) and the spring finale against Missouri State (April 28).
The Razorbacks' spring roster features seniors-to-be Roslandy Acosta, Amanda Anderson, Kasey Heckelman, Marci King, Jasmine Norton and Janeliss Torres-Lopez; juniors-to-be Hayley Koop, Clarissa Pavey, Raymariely Santos and Ashley Vazquez; and sophomores-to-be Christa Alvarez and KC Dobbins. Vazquez, a transfer setter from Long Beach State, joined the Razorbacks in January to begin the semester.
The match against Tulsa next Wednesday is scheduled for a 5 p.m. first serve in Fayetteville. All other match times are still to be determined. For more information regarding Razorback volleyball or University of Arkansas athletics, please visit ArkansasRazorbacks.com.
