AS A SENIOR (2011-12)
Jamesha Townsend wrapped up her Razorback career helping her team to the NCAA Tournament in her final season. After earning a starting spot as a junior, Townsend accepted the role as a top player off the bench in 2011-12. She played in 25 games, averging seven minutes a contest. Townsend scored four points three times and gave Arkansas big minutes in the second game at the Southeastern Conference Tournament against LSU. Townsend saw double-digit minutes in seven games and grabbed a season-high seven rebounds against Texas Southern. Townsend plans to pursue a career in broadcast journalism after graduation.

AS A JUNIOR (2010-11)
Jamesha Townsend earned 34 starts last year in the weight room and conditioning center the summer before her junior season.  Her off-season training and leadership spilled out onto the court with Townsend having a break-out season scoring 2.9 ppg and 2.6 rpg while acting as a leader and a voice of reason on the floor.  Townsend bettered her numbers in the postseason averaging 3.8 ppg and 2.8 rpg.  She scored six points four times and broke through at Oral Roberts in the WNIT Tournament for career-best seven points on 3-fo-4 shooting.

AS A SOPHOMORE (2009-10)
Townsend filled a blue-collar role for Arkansas as a freshman.  Not asked to be the leading scorer or rebounding, Townsend earned one start, played in 28 games and averaged 10.6 minutes per game.   Townsend scored six points against No. 24 Georgia and had a career-high seven rebounds against Mississippi State while averaging 1.5 ppg and 2.0 rpg as a sophomore.

AS A FRESHMAN (2008-09)
A California girl with Arkansas roots, Townsend is the first Golden State high school player to sign with the Razorbacks straight from high school in more than a generation.  The San Diego area standout can play either forward position for the Razorbacks.

As a true freshman, Townsend saw time in 12 games scoring six points with eight rebounds.  Townsend scored three of those points at No. 3 Auburn going 3-for-4 from the free throw line.

IN HIGH SCHOOL
Townsend finished her high school career at Bonita Vista High School in Chula Vista, Calif., but was unable to participate as a senior due to district transfer rules.  Townsend averaged 11.7 ppg last season for La Jolla High her junior season and was named third-team All-San Diego region by the Union Tribune.  Her La Jolla teams won three-straight California Interscholastic Federation District 4 titles in the San Diego area, ranking either first or second among all girls’ teams in the region.  Townsend also has a three-year varsity track history, and her mother, Regina, was an all-state track athlete during her high school days in Arkansas.

PERSONAL
Born Jamesha Celecia Townsend on April 12, 1990, she is the daughter of James and Regina Townsend of Chula Vista, Calif.  She has an older sister Jessica.
