FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Tom Collen and the University of Arkansas women’s basketball team cracked the Associated Press top 25 at No. 25 in the poll released Monday.

Arkansas moved to 11-1 overall with two wins last week before the holiday break.  Arkansas has won eight non-conference games in a row.  The Razorbacks garnered 95 votes last week moving up into the first spot just outside the poll.

This week, Arkansas has 107 votes moving into the No. 25 spot.  Southeastern Conference member Texas A&M (8-4) is in the No. 24 spot with118 votes this week.

I'm really excited for this team to be recognized in the top 25," Collen said. "They are very deserving. They have earned it by playing one game at a time. This schedule has been a little more difficult than some people might realize with half of our games played on the road. Now we have the challenge of the SEC schedule which will be a great test for our team and exciting for our fans. "

Arkansas has been receiving votes in both the AP and the USA TODAY Coaches Poll most of the season and also got votes in both polls for several weeks last season but was never able to jump into the top 25.

The last time Arkansas was ranked was Jan. 23, 2011, Collen’s fourth season at Arkansas.  Collen and the Razorbacks were in the top 25 in 2007-08, his first season, as well.

The Razorbacks are one of six SEC teams in the top 25 and one of seven mentioned in the poll.  Georgia leads the SEC at No. 6, followed by No. 7 Kentucky, No. 13 Tennessee, No, 19 South Carolina and No. 24 Texas A&M.  Vanderbilt is getting 20 votes this week.

The USA TODAY Top 25 poll is released on Tuesday.
