Arkansas wraps up regular season with a win

EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. - Lynday Harris and Keira Peak dropped in 12 points each and Ashley Daniels added 11 as the University of Arkansas women's basketball team downed SIU-Edwardsville 75-37 in the final regular season game of the year.

The Razorbacks move to 23-8 overall and await a possible selection to the NCAA Tournament.  The selection show is Monday at 6 p.m. Arkansas' 23 wins ties for second all-time as the most wins before the postseason.

"We got out to a good start and just never let up," Arkansas head coach Tom Collen said.  "We took this game seriously and I thought we really finished well tonight."

Slow and steady wins the race must have been the approach for Arkansas in the first half.  Arkansas was business-like running the offense and scoring.  Although Arkansas didn't put up big numbers they were efficient, shooting 63 percent on 17-for-27 shooting in the first half.

At the break, Harris led all scorers with 12 points and the Razorbacks had played nine players, seven of whom had scored.  The Razorbacks lead by as many as 27 in the first half and scored 22 points in the paint by the break.

Arkansas never trailed in the game and played all 12 players with 11 scoring in the contest.  Collen went back to the starters to begin the second stanza but quickly pulled them for the bench players.  Despite the change in personnel, the Razorbacks continued to be efficient finishing the game shooting 58.2 percent on 32-for-55 for the contest.

In addition to three players in double figures, Arkansas rebounded well, 37-31, paced by senior C'eira Ricketts with nine.  Daniels added eight and Peak had seven in the win.

"This is a pretty good SIUE team," Collen said.  "I'm pleased with the offense against them tonight and its nice to take that momentum into the postseason."

The Razorbacks join the rest of the country waiting for the selection show Monday at 6 p.m.
