FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - The University of Arkansas women's basketball team continues its series of opponent previews as it counts down to tipoff of the 2013-14 season. Next up on the nonconference schedule for the Razorbacks is the Northwestern State Lady Demons.
Opponent: Northwestern State Lady Demons
Date: Dec. 7, 2013 - 7 p.m.
Location: Bud Walton Arena - Fayetteville, Ark.
Series Results: This marks the 12th meeting between the Lady Demons and Razorbacks. The last time the two programs met, Arkansas earned a 59-43 win over Northwestern State during the 2007-08 season. The Razorbacks hold a 9-3 all-time record. The first game between the two schools dates back to the 1980-81 season when the Lady Demons defeated the Razorbacks 73-62.
Last Season: Northwestern State finished 12-18 overall, winning just two games on the road and going 2-13 on visiting courts. The Lady Demons went 7-11 in Southland Conference play and finished eighth in league standings.
Foe to Know: Keisha Lee, 5-5, Guard, Sophomore. Lee led the Lady Demons with 12.0 points per game and added 3.6 rebounds per contest last season. The Denham Springs, L.A., native, started in 28 of 30 games last season. In high school, Lee was a McDonald's All-American nominee and earned all-district honors as a sophomore and junior. Her team, Denham Springs High School, won district championship all four seasons.
Veteran-Laden Lineup: Northwestern State returns four of five starts from last season's unit, with Janelle Perez, Keisha Lee, Arianne Ausmer and Jasmine Bradley all back in the fold. Perez started in all 30 games last season, scoring 10.8 points per game. Lee was next with 28 starts, while Ausmer also received 27 starting nods. Only Jasmine Upchurch was lost to graduation, as the Lady Demons look to fill her 12.3 ppg and 6.0 rpg.
