FAYETTEVILLE - The University of Arkansas football team practiced on Wednesday on the UA practice fields as it continued preparing for its game on Saturday at South Carolina.

Defensive coordinator and secondary coach Paul Haynes spoke to the media after practice and discussed the defensive strategy for stopping the Gamecocks.

"They run hard and try to run you over," Coach Haynes said. "We have to do a good job at stopping the run and we can't give up those explosive gains."

Coach Haynes also commented on the recent strides made by the defense.

"There is improvement," Coach Haynes said. "Our guys have done a great job in the last month of stopping the run, which is one of our goals. There's been improvement in the whole defense in the continuity, the attitude, and just focusing on us stopping them. That's been our mentality the past couple weeks and it's been good for us."

Kickoff for the South Carolina game is set for 11:00 a.m., and will be televised on CBS.
