FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The University of Arkansas Athletic Department announced the hiring of Alison Nail as career development coordinator. The position, which is part of the Student-Athlete Development program, is similar to the University’s Career Development office, but is solely dedicated to the athletic department.

As career development coordinator, Nail, who has a background in recruiting, works with Razorback student-athletes throughout their Arkansas career to prepare them for life beyond the university. Activities for student-athletes include: networking opportunities with corporate executives; on-site visits with local organizations; job search seminars; mock interview sessions; and one-on-one resume assistance.

Nail will also launch a department-wide internship program so that all student-athletes have multiple job experiences prior to graduation.   Arkansas’ career development coordinator position is one of only a handful in the nation and it is the only one of its kind in the Southeastern Conference.

“We can tell the parents of our recruits that we have a person on staff who is solely dedicated to their child’s career success after graduation,” said Nail. “It’s great for recruiting, but more importantly, it’s great to know we’re doing everything we can on behalf of our student-athletes. This position is yet another example of Arkansas’ uncompromising commitment to our student-athletes.”

Prior to joining the Razorback Athletic Department, Nail served as a collegiate recruiter for organizations such as U.S. Airways, Northern Arizona Healthcare Systems, and Readyforce. Additionally, she was an employee relations representative for Madison Square Garden in New York City, N.Y. Throughout her career, Nail has also been a dedicated career advisor for university students, professional athletes, and corporate executives through her own business “The Graduate Career Coach”.  Nail has numerous written publications including an e-book called “Prepare for Success: 12 Simple Things You Can Do Today to Maximize Your Employment Appeal”.  Nail has also been named “A Woman of Action” by Celebration of Women; recognized as a “Woman on the Move – Promoting Positivity in Women” by Women on the Move, Inc.; and is a team coach for the Girls on the Run program.

Nail earned her bachelor’s degree in childhood development in 1996 from Freed-Hardeman University and completed her master’s degree in sports psychology at the University of the Rockies in 2012.
