The team had another fun-filled, exciting day in Puerto Rico today!

With a little earlier start, we began the day with another delicious breakfast and headed off to the pool. Our pool time this morning was a bit different, in that we had a meet against the University of Chicago. Their team is also staying at our hotel, and there’s nothing like a little friendly competition to get everyone excited. The meet consisted of five relays: the 200 Medley, 200 Fly, 200 Breast, 200 Back, and the 200 Free. The Razorbacks swept the competition winning every event, and placing second and third in the majority of the races.

After handshakes and team cheers, we started the second portion of our morning session with drylands. Middle distance/distance swimmers headed to the weight room while the sprinters participated in dryland. As a sprinter, my group exercised TRX planks and dynamic movements, medicine ball routines, and ran stadiums. It was a pretty grueling workout, and the team was more than happy to get back to the hotel for our afternoon off.

After a fun bus ride back singing along to Taylor Swift with the girls, we returned to the hotel for another double lunch (fast swimming sure makes us hungry!). A few girls chose to go snorkeling a short distance from the beach, and some even saw a sea turtle. My roommate Julia Kucherich and I chose to learn paddle boarding and drink coconut water on the beach. Later on, the team banana boated again and had many more laughs as we watched our teammates plummet into the water from the crazy boat driving.

After dinner, the four teams divided up once more for another competition. For this competition, each team had to prepare a skit and perform it for everyone. Most of the teams poked fun at the coaches and trainers, which had the audience doubled over with laughter. Coach Todd Mann even shed a few tears from laughing so hard! The purple team placed first, followed by the blue, green, and red teams. I won best cameo for an impersonation of our assistant strength coach, while Julia Kucherich won best actress for impersonating a dog! My team, the Green Hulkettes, still leads the pack followed closely by red, purple and blue.

What a great way to end the day. I can’t help but feel so incredibly thankful and blessed to be a part of this great group of women at the best school around!

Hulk out!

A note from the diving core:

Today we had a meet against the University of Chicago. We were paired with another diver so each did half of their list. I was paired with Kesha, and Meghan and Shelby were paired together. Kesha and I took second and Meghan and Shelby took third. After the meet we practiced and went to the beach. Some people snorkeled and some rode the banana boat. It was a fun day!
