After getting shut out against Texas A&M, Marshawn Powell came back against Vanderbilt to score 17 points and pick up a career high six steals ... Powell’s six steals tie for the second most by an Arkansas player in an SEC game in school history ... this is the fourth straight year that the Razorbacks have begun the SEC season with a 1-1 record ... Arkansas’ defense stepped up this week holding opponents to an SEC leading 31.6 percent from the floor and an average of 51.0 points, No. 2 in the SEC ... the Razorbacks continue to lead the SEC in turnover margin and assist-turnover ratio for all games played ... sophomore Hunter Mickelson has 14 blocks in his last six games and 95 blocks in his career, he passed Corliss Williamson on Arkansas’ all-time blocks list against Vanderbilt and ranks 12th in Arkansas history ... with the Razorbacks’ win against Vanderbilt, Arkansas improved to 26-4 (.867) in Fayetteville with Mike Anderson as head coach, the best percentage by an Arkansas head coach since Eddie Sutton in the early 80s ... for the season Arkansas has forced teams into 264 turnovers (17.6 per game) and turned those into 328 points (21.9 per game) ... Arkansas returns to the court on Wednesday, Jan. 16, when it continues Southeastern Conference play against Auburn at Bud Walton Arena before heading on the road to face Ole Miss on Saturday, Jan. 19.
