GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Junior Sebastian Cappelen shot one-over par over two rounds at the Gator Invitational on Saturday at the Mark Bostick Golf Course to lead the No. 12 University of Arkansas men’s golf team to sixth with 18 holes to play.

Cappelen was one-over par after 18 holes, then shot even par over the next 18 holes to tie for ninth individually, just three strokes out of second.  He is joined by sophomore Thomas Sorensen among the top 20 players in the tournament.

Florida State, ranked No. 23 entering the event, leads the way at one-over par as a team and holds a nine-stroke lead over the host and No. 3 Florida who is tied with North Florida at 10-over par.  Liberty and UAB round out the top five at 12 and 13-over par, respectively.

The day did not begin the way Cappelen would have liked as he posted a bogey on his second hole, and he found himself at two-over par through his eighth.  A birdie on the par five, 12th, got him back to one-over and a pair of bogeys and birdies over his final nine holes including back-to-back birdies to close the round got him back to one-over par.  Cappelen’s second round of the day ended at even par after three birdies and three bogeys.

Sorensen’s day also showed improvement from his first to second round as he went from a first round of two-over par to one-over par for a first-day total of three over.  Hanging around par for most of the day, Sorensen carded a pair of bogeys late in his opening round and one on his 17th hole over his second 18 holes.  Overall, the Dane sank four birdie putts and seven bogeys over his 36-hole day.

Junior Joe Doramus matched Cappelen for the best single round of the day when he shot even par over the opening 18 holes of the tournament, but a string of bogeys to end round two placed him in a tie for 36th individually at six-over par.  Doramus opened competition with a birdie and after a pair of bogeys, sank a second birdie before ending the round with 11 straight pars.  Doramus’ second round began with a bogey and included seven holes of one-over par and just a single birdie.

After an up-and-down first round, freshman Taylor Moore’s second 18 holes were steadier.  Moore found himself four-over par after three holes before he sank his first birdie.  Another bogey and birdie later and Moore finally settled in to sink four straight par putts.  He closed his round with a pair of birdies, a bogey and a double to finish at four-over par.  Moore’s second round concluded at three-over par as the Edmond, Okla., native sank two birdies and five bogeys.

Senior Austin Cook wrapped up the Razorback day with identical rounds of four-over par.  His opening round included two birdies and six bogeys while his second 18 had one birdie, three bogeys and a double.

The Razorbacks conclude the Gator Invitational from the 10th tee beginning at 9:20 a.m. eastern with players from Memphis and Georgia Southern.
