FAYETTEVILLE - Arkansas senior forward Kailey Anders and junior forward Allie Chandler have each been named to the Capital One Academic All-America All-District 6 team.

Anders is on the first team and Chandler is on the second team.

District 6 includes all schools in Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin.

"I am ecstatic for both Kailey and Allie," head coach Erin Aubry says. "They are both very deserving of this award as both students and athletes. Our athletic department does a great job of stressing the 'student' in student-athlete and Kailey and Allie are wonderful representatives of the Razorbacks. I am proud of the work they put in both on and off the field. They are terrific examples to their teammates and peers."

Anders, a senior from Allen, Texas, made the first team with a 3.87 grade point average in communication disorders. On the field, she led the team with four goals, two assists, 10 points, two game-winning goals and a .489 shots on goal percentage despite missing two games and parts of two others with injuries. She played forward as a senior after starting every game the two previous seasons at defender. Anders' game-winners this year came against SMU and Air Force.

Anders was named to the Capital One All-District 6 second team as a junior. She has also been named to Southeastern Conference and Arkansas academic honor rolls, including UA's Academic Champions list for a 4.0 semester GPA.

Chandler, from Mesquite, Texas, was named to the second team with a 3.78 grade point average in communication disorders. She earned second-team All-SEC honors last week after ranking second in the league this year with 83 shots and 4.61 shots on goal. Chandler led the team in shots and with 29 shots on goal. She tied for second with one game-winner, against Mississippi State, and was third with two goals, four points and a .349 shots on goal percentage.

Chandler has also been named to SEC and Arkansas academic honor rolls, including UA's Academic Champions list for a perfect 4.0 GPA.

Arkansas also had two spots on the Capital One Academic All-America All-District team last year. In addition to Anders being on the second team, Beth McVean was also a second-team selection.

While Chandler earned a position on the All-SEC second team last week, forward Jeri Ann Okoro was named to the league's All-Freshman team.
