FAYETTEVILLE - Arkansas' soccer team closes its spring exhibition season with a pair of games on the road this weekend.
The Razorbacks, under the direction of first-year head coach Colby Hale, play Southeast Missouri State on Friday and Saint Louis on Saturday.
The SEMO game is Friday at 7 p.m. on Lake Country Soccer Field in the Cooper Sports Complex in Springfield. Saturday's game is at Saint Louis at 5 p.m.
The Razorbacks have played five spring exhibition games, including last week's 2-0 loss at Oklahoma.
"There was a lot to take away from the game on Saturday," Hale says. "We are getting answers to a lot of questions and the team's cohesion is growing. In terms of culture and identity, I am pleased with where we are. It is a process, but I am pleased with the progress we've made in such a short time."
This spring, the Razorbacks have a 3-0 win over former Razorbacks in the annual Alumni Game and a 2-0 victory over Tulsa, which was 10-8-3 in the fall.
Arkansas has had goals from five different players - junior midfielder Taylor Green, freshman forward Phyllis George, junior forward Yvonne DesJarlais, junior midfielder Jessie Givens and sophomore midfielder Beth Stratton.
"We started slow and OU capitalized," Hale says of last week's game. "That is something we need to fix. We are making mental mistakes that are costing us. We will fix some of those things this week and that will affect the outcome of games. Our performance over the last 70 minutes was good, and the staff and players take confidence in knowing we are improving. The mistakes are fixable and the effort is good."
