FAYETTEVILLE - Competing at the 2012 Bupa Great Edinburgh Cross Country International Challenge in Scotland, University of Arkansas freshmen Kaitlin Flattmann and Jessica Jackson helped the junior women's team to a win. Overall, Team USA finished in second place at the international competition.
The junior women's team posted a score of 15 to win its race. Jackson ran to a sixth-place individual finish and navigated the 4K course in a time of 15:29. Razorback teammate Flattmann finished 14th in the junior competition.
"In speaking with them, they both say it was one of the greatest experiences of their lives," head coach Lance Harter said. "The junior women's race looked to be one of the highlights of the entire weekend and it was a great honor for both to be selected and go on to compete well."
Team from the United State, Great Britain and Northern Ireland and a select European team competed in the men's and women's junior and senior races. Each team in the International Team Challenge consisted of nine athletes (six on the junior teams) with the first six athletes (four in the junior races) scoring toward the team total.
