FAYETTEVILLE - Heading into last week's NCAA Fayetteville Regional in Barnhill Arena, Arkansas senior All-American gymnast Jaime Pisani was featured on several broadcasts.
Pisani won all-around and beam titles in the regional, running her season total to 33 individual event wins, and led the Razorbacks to a fifth straight trip to the NCAA Championship.
Arkansas competes in the NCAA Championship in Duluth, Ga., April 20-22. The Razorbacks are in the Session II semifinal on April 2 at 5 p.m. central, competing with Florida, Ohio State, Georgia, Alabama and Oregon State. The top three times in each of the two semifinal sessions advance to the Super Six on April 21. NCAA individual event finals are April 22.
In the regional, the Razorbacks overcame late-season injuries to finish second and earn their sixth trip to the NCAA Championship in seven years. No. 3 UCLA won the meet, but then-No. 10 Arkansas topped No. 15 Boise State, No. 19 Missouri, No. 29 New Hampshire and No. 34 Maryland.
After setting a school record for a regional with a score of 196.825, the Razorbacks moved up and are the No. 8 seed in the NCAA Championship.
Pisani, the Southeastern Conference Gymnast of the Year, is ranked No. 1 in the nation in the all-around and on floor.
