Razorbacks conclude Houston Cougar Invitational

FAYETTEVILLE – The University of Arkansas women’s tennis team concluded their final team event of the fall season this weekend as they finished play at the Houston Cougar Invitational. In a day delayed again by thunderstorms, the Razorbacks earned two more singles victories to wrap up the fall season.

Ana Lorena Belmar Hernandez won in singles for the second straight day. She defeated Texas State’s Melissa Hadad in three sets, 4-6, 7-6, 10-8. Kristen Mee won her match by default, earning a 6-3, 1-6, 7-2 victory over Denver's Michelle Garpenlov, and was undefeated at the tournament.  

“We are quite pleased with the third day performances from both players today,” Hegarty said. “It was a strong way to end the fall competitive season. Now it is time to focus on development as we enter the training block.”

The event concludes the fall season for the Razorbacks. The team will resume with the spring schedule in January.
