Naylor's platform win highlights morning session

HOUSTON – The morning session of the final day of the Houston Cougar Swimming and Diving Invitational included nine top-eight finishes for the Razorbacks.The session was highlighted by junior Kesha Naylor's win on the platform, as she scored a 276.00 to defeat 37 other competitors. The total was also the fifth-best score in school history. 

The Razorbacks placed three swimmers in the championship finals in the first event, the 200 backstroke as Liz Braun, Lauren Jordan and Anna Mayfield placed third, fourth and sixth respectively.

Braun’s time of 1:57.54 ranks fourth-best in school history, a record that Braun herself owns (1:56.68).

In the 100 freestyle preliminaries Susanna White recorded the fifth-best time in school history, wiping Missy Allert’s 1991 time of 50.20 out of the record books. Freshman Nina Drolc recorded a personal-best time of 50.19, earning a spot in the championship final alongside White.

The next event did not disappoint as Arkansas placed two more swimmers in the championship finals, as Nikki Daniels and Julia Banach earned spots with personal-best swims of 2:13.39 and 2:15.19.

Braun again stepped up in the 200 butterfly notching a season-best time of 2:02.45 to place fourth overall in the prelims.

The first sets of finals in the 1,650 freestyle included Sigrun Sverrisdottir and Allison Boyle. Boyle and Sverrisdottir went one-two in heat four of the mile as Boyle clocked a 16:53.75 and Sverrisdottir a time of 16:58.69.
