IOWA CITY, Iowa -- The University of Arkansas swimming and diving team saw three divers place in the top 16 on the three-meter board Friday afternoon at the NCAA Zone D Diving Championships in Iowa City, Iowa.
Sophomore Kesha Naylor led the Razorbacks with a two-round score of 570.15 to earn an 11th-place finish overall in the event. Naylor placed 15th with a score of 277.25 in the preliminary session to earn a trip to the finals, where she improved her score with a 292.90 to tally 570.15 overall for 11th place.
Seniors Liana Bugslag and Alex House each had a strong day on the three-meter board and finished just behind Naylor. Bugslag placed 13th with a score of 564.85, and House was 16th with 558.75.
"I was happy with the way Bugslag and House dove today," said Arkansas diving coach Dale Schultz. "Liana was solid. She dove at the level she has all year, and Alex continued to be consistent on the three-meter board."
Saturday marks the final day of the NCAA Zone D Diving Championships featuring the platform diving event. Qualifications for the NCAA Championships, which take place March 15-17 in Auburn, Ala., will be determined after the completion of the platform event. Coach Schultz expressed his excitement for the potential for Naylor to lead the Razorbacks on the tower once again.
"I'm looking forward to our divers' opportunities on tower tomorrow," Schultz said. "Kesha is a tower diver so she's got as good a chance as any to qualify. The top 4 or 5 divers on the platform have a chance to go to NCAAs, so I'm excited to see what we can do."
