FAYETTEVILLE -- University of Arkansas swimming and diving head coach Jeff Poppell has announced the signing of diver Hannah Bortnick to a national letter of intent. Bortnick is the ninth member of the Razorbacks' 2012 signing class, and the second diver to sign on along with Shelby Bartlett.

Bortnick is from Kansas City, Mo., and is currently a senior at Pembroke Hill High School. She has competed for the Jayhawk Diving Club under the tutelage of coach Eric Elliott.

Razorback diving coach Dale Schultz expressed his enthusiasm in welcoming Bortnick to an experienced and talented group of divers.

"I am really excited about the addition of Hannah to our program," Schultz said. "She is a strong diver with an extensive gymnastics background, having trained in Al Fong's gymnastics program in Kansas City. Having Hannah in our program helps solidify an already strong group of divers."

The Razorbacks had a standout year on the boards in 2011-12. The one-meter, three-meter and platform diving records were all broken this past season, with two of those records belonging to sophomore Kesha Naylor. Naylor won two Southeastern Conference Diver of the Week awards, and will be back for her junior year to lead the Arkansas divers in 2012-13.
