Kemp, Campbell-Brown advance in London

FAYETTEVILLE – On day four of track and field at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, current student-athlete Ivanique Kemp and former Razorback Veronica Campbell-Brown qualified for the semifinal round of their respective events. Running for her native Bahamas, Kemp finished 32nd overall in the first round of the 100-meter hurdles and advanced with an automatic finish in her heat. Campbell-Brown was 11th overall in the opening round of the 200 meters.

Kemp made her Olympic debut with a third-place finish in the second heat in the opening round of the 100-meter hurdles. By finishing third in the heat with a time of 13.51, she secured an automatic berth into the semifinal round of the event. Kemp is the Bahamian record holder in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 13.13. The semifinal will be run Tuesday at 1:15 p.m. (CT).

Off her bronze showing at 100 meters, Campbell-Brown began defense of her Olympic title in the 200 meters by advancing to the semifinal of the event. She finished third in her heat with a time of 22.75, clinching a spot into the next round. Campbell-Brown is the two-time Olympic champion at 200 meters. The semifinal round will be held Tuesday at 2:25 p.m. (CT).

Kemp and Campbell-Brown are back on the track Tuesday for the semifinal round of their respective event. The final of the 100-meter hurdles will also be run Tuesday.
