FAYETTEVILLE – The University of Arkansas women’s track and field team enters the season with a top-10 ranking at No. 7, as announced by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association on Monday.

The women are coming off a Southeastern Conference Indoor Championship and fourth-place finish at the NCAA Indoor Championship. The Razorbacks wrapped up the 2013 season as the No. 3 team in the country, awarded with 28 All-American honors. This season, Arkansas returns Chrishuna Williams from the 2013 4x400 meter relay team that broke the school indoor record with a time of 3:29.60.

Texas entered the preseason rankings at No. 1, with SEC foes Texas A&M and Florida at the No. 2 and No. 3 spots, respectively. Oregon earns the No. 4 position, with Georgia at No. 5. Kentucky comes in at No. 6, just ahead of the Razorbacks. Five SEC teams made the top-10 to enter the season.

Arkansas began its 2014 campaign Friday with the Arkansas Invitational at Randal Tyson Track Center where the Razorbacks earned a first-place finish with 136 points. This Friday Arkansas hosts the rival event of the season as Texas comes to Randal Tyson Indoor for the Texas Duals. It will mark the first dual for the two teams, a tradition was started by the men’s team four years ago. Action starts at 6 p.m.
