No. 8 Razorbacks to Compete at SEC Outdoor Championships

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark - The University of Arkansas women's track and field team is set for the Southeastern Conference Outdoor Championships in Lexington, Ky.

The four-day meet will begin Thursday, May 15 and wrap up  with final events Sunday, May 18. The 2014 SEC Outdoor Championships, hosted by the University of Kentucky, will take place at the Kentucky Track and Field Complex. The No. 8 Razorbacks are searching for their first SEC Outdoor title since 2004.

SEC BOASTS NATON'S TOP TEAMS
Eight SEC women’s teams are among the nation’s top-25, including six teams in the top-10. Florida is the nation’s No. 1 team. Texas A&M (No. 4), Georgia (No. 5), Kentucky (No. 6), LSU (No. 7) and Arkansas (No. 8) also are ranked among the top-10. Missouri is the nation’s 13th-ranked team, while Mississippi State checks in at No. 19.

RAZORBACKS BRING STRONG CONTIGENT TO LEXINGTON
The No. 8 Razorbacks are searching for their first outdoor conference title since 2004, bringing a strong contigent to Lexington this week. Sandi Morris and Danielle Nowell will compete for the pole vault title, entering the meet as the No. 1 and No. 2 vaulters in the SEC, respectively. They stand as the only two SEC competitors to clear 14 feet during the outdoor season. SEC defending champion Grace Heymsfield is the top 3,000-meter steeplchase performer heading to Lexington this weekend, breaking her own school record at the Payton Jordan Invitational two weeks ago. Stephanie Brown owns the top-SEC time in the 1,500-meter at 4:11.40 and will fight to defend her top spot this week. After winning an SEC Indoor Individual Title, Dominique Scott (5,000-meter) and Stephanie Brown (800-meter) will compete for an outdoor title in their respective events this week.
