DES MOINES, Iowa - The No. 4 University of Arkansas women's track and field team wrapped its outdoor season Saturday afternoon at the 2011 NCAA Championships at Drake Stadium in Des Moines, Iowa. Kristen Gillespie closed out her junior campaign with an 11th-place finish in the 1,500 meters. The Razorbacks end the national outdoor meet in 14th place with 18 team points.

"The two meets you circle at the start of the season are the SEC meet and NCAA Championships," head coach Lance Harter said. "I think our athletes and coaches can be proud of the overall season we've had, going back to the indoor season. I'm very proud of our team and how hard we fought to put ourselves in a maximum scoring position. We lose some very good seniors from this team, but a majority of the team will be back so we could be very potent again next year."

Gillespie, the team's lone representative on day four, ran to a time of 4:21.75 in the finals of the 1,500 meters. She finished 11th overall in her debut in a national final. Gillespie closes out the year with a season-best effort of 4:17.00, the time she ran in Thursday's semifinal to advance to the title run. Her time in Saturday's final is the fourth best of her career. The top-five performances of her career all came in 2011.

The USTFCCCA is scheduled to release the 2011 outdoor All-America list Monday. The top eight finishers at the NCAA Championships in each event-regardless of nationality-will be named All-America, while places 9-16 will be recognized as second-team All-America.

Arkansas' 18 points came from a second-place finish by Tina Sutej in the pole vault, fourth-place result by Shelise Williams in the 400 meters, sixth-place showing by Regina George in the 400 meters and seventh-place finish by Brittany Hyter in the 400-meter hurdles.

With the collegiate season in the books, several Razorbacks will turn their attention to national and international competition during the summer months. The USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships will be held June 23-26 at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore. The junior national championships will be held concurrently.
